The Blyde River Canyon (CI project) focused on designing a corporate brand identity for a South African National Park. The brand’s purpose is to allow tourists, sightseers and hikers, the ability to travel through contemporary and timeless authenticity and evolve through the transformation of the senses. However, an informative product (app) on the canyon’s notable sites and biodiversity would be ideal for the brand’s target audience before booking a trip. For this project, the CI design solution is extended into a UX/UI outcome for the national park, an app designed for Sense the Blyde.

Rationale

Sense the Blyde is an app that allows the unconventional backpacker who indulges in wandering to travel and experience the journey through their senses.

The app provides the convenience of having access to the canyon from your mobile phone before the trip. The app functions as an informative, immersive and interactive travel guide for the Blyde River Canyon. Users can personalise their experience; explore a collection of wildlife, fauna and flora, book activities and nearby accommodation and have access to our offline maps and routes. The app offers an immersive 360° virtual tour of the canyon and other famous sites such as the ‘Three Rondavels’ and ‘God’s Window.’
